The People of CEES

Monica Merel, MBA, Co-Owner CEES, is a New Jersey native and is invested in the community she serves.  Educated in Liberal Arts at Sarah Lawrence College, her original intention was to work for her Dad in his engineering firm, but a perfect storm dictated other plans.  The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Union (IBEW), established 1890, underwent reform in the mid-1980s by establishing an active campaign to bring minorities and women into the organization. A recruiter from IBEW called Monica and invited her to enter the intellectually and physically grueling apprenticeship program.  Monica accepted the challenge, did well, and earned her NJ electrical License and all the rights of membership in the electrical services industry.  As a master electrician, her specialty has become project management, overseeing the work of other registered and licensed professionals.

Stress relief. Monica is committed to her craft and combines her passion for legacy preservation, dedication to community, and her lighting and power-design expertise to walk each client through the project experience to completion.

Proactive approach. Monica’s comprehensive, hands-on experience in the construction industry informs her ability to take a proactive, rather than reactive approach.  Her priority is to meet residential and national and local municipal code requirements, avoid costly and unnecessary work, and assign and supervise her dedicated contingency of artisans and licensed electricians.

Preserving legacy through education.Monica is passionate about protecting families and property from the risk of electrical shock and fire. She shares her passion with her students who take her courses: The History of Lighting & Electricity, The Financial Advantages of Alternative Energy Sources, and Women in Technology.
